Portia Scott-Hicks PT1 EP56

Stacey reads a viewer email from Ahmed in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia while Chuck’s Tip of the Week deals with the voice actor’s most important tool, the voice over demo. Portia Scott-Hicks, top voice over agent, talks about her journey from classically trained actor to running the voice over division at Coast to Coast Talent Group in Los Angeles. Portia explains how she uses her background as a performer to help direct voice actors in the booth and reveals what she finds are the common missteps actors make in their auditions. We get to hear about the one-woman show she produced, co-wrote and starred in called, The Secret Diary of Saundra Woodward and how the experience of doing this successful show changed the course of her life.

Chuck and Stacey reveal VO Buzz Weekly’s first contest of 2013 with the help of Portia and Coast to Coast Talent Group. It’s open to U.S. residents only, and you can get all the information on how to enter at the VO Buzz Weekly Contest Page. Portia shares details about her upcoming event, Animation Blast, with Disney casting director, Sara Goldberg on February 18th at Marc Graue Studios in Los Angeles and talks about her process when receiving demos submissions from someone seeking voice over representation.
